Earlier this year, Equifax announced a sustainability initiative across Australia and New Zealand. As an integral part of the Australian and New Zealand community, our vision is to integrate sustainability into the Equifax culture in simple ways so we all become custodians for our environment.
As we head into 2023, we're launching 3 new focus areas as part of our ANZ sustainability initiative
Introducing the A/NZ Sustainability 2023 Focus Areas
- Charter & Governance - The ANZ Sustainability Committee Charter and Governance Working Group will create a charter to ensure alignment with the global team and consistency across A/NZ streams. The team is also responsible for the administration of our initiatives including obtaining funding, ensuring goals and objectives are set and progress measured.
- Education & Events - The ANZ Sustainability Education and Events Working Group will focus on encouraging all employees to get involved through regular communications. This includes providing opportunities to use volunteer days and tips on how to bring more sustainable practices into everyday life.
- Responsible Disposal and Consumption - The Responsible Disposal and Consumption Working Group will partner with the ANZ Equifax Facilities & Procurement teams to drive our ANZ sustainability goals. This includes metrics around disposal and consumption, industry certification and resources on how we can improve our metrics.
Sustainable Tips for the Holiday Season
While a lot of fun, the festive season can be a time of overindulgence and the creation of excess waste. Here are a five simple tips from the team on how you can have a more sustainable Christmas break:
- Buy considerate gifts - Ask people for a list of things they need or give an experience. Buy eco-friendly or second hand. Avoid unnecessary stocking fillers.
- Recycle wrapping paper - or better still save it and use it again next year. Recycle gift packaging.
- Make your own - Get creative and make your own cards (or use an e-card) and decorations.
- Minimise food waste - Know how many you are catering for and freeze leftovers for a handy meal when you don’t have time to cook. Compost anything else.
- Re-gift or donate - Don’t put unwanted gifts in the bin, re-gift or donate to a local charity.
