SYDNEY – October 2024 – Equifax has been recognised as an ABA100 Winner for Business Innovation, Digital Transformation and Business Transformation in The Australian Business Awards 2024. The awards are an annual, comprehensive program which recognises organisations that demonstrate the core values of business innovation, product innovation, technological achievement and employee engagement via a set of established business and product award categories.

Melanie Cochrane, Group Managing Director at Equifax ANZ, said: “We are thrilled to announce that Equifax have been recognised for our industry-leading work in the Technology FinOps space by winning in three categories in the Australian Business Awards 2024. This win is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team.”

The achievements Equifax was acknowledged for at the Australian Business Awards include:

  • Business Innovation: Awarded for innovative initiatives that have demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to business transformation.
  • Digital Transformation: Recognised for the organisation’s excellence in implementing digital initiatives that have significantly improved operations.
  • Business Transformation: For successful implementation of initiatives that have driven significant positive changes within the organisation.

Equifax recognised the need to enhance financial performance and drive business innovation as they embarked on a global digital transformation journey, and sought a way to predict and optimise cloud spending while driving business value to customers. To do this, Equifax adopted a set of practices and principles known as FinOps.

The successful execution of the FinOps framework has delivered a reduction in cloud costs by millions of dollars annually, amplifying the business value of cloud services and driving efficient growth. It has also enabled better cross-functional collaboration, aided Equifax in reducing its environmental footprint by curbing carbon emissions, and becoming an ever-evolving catalyst for business innovation.

Paul Gladigau, Chief Technology Officer at Equifax ANZ, said: “We adopted FinOps to help bridge the gap between finance, engineering, and business units to manage our cloud infrastructure more effectively. By implementing FinOps best practices into our company strategy and culture, we can better leverage the cloud to deliver our unique insights and drive business value to our customers.

“The evolution of FinOps as an enterprise-wide initiative at Equifax, and now being recognised in the 2024 Business Innovation, Digital Transformation and Business Transformation award categories, showcases the culture of continuous learning and improvement ingrained within our company strategy and culture. We are committed to sharing our knowledge and learnings to promote adoption and awareness within the industry.”

The innovations recognised by the awards have also delivered benefits for Equifax customers.

“At Equifax, we are always striving to be more customer-centric. Introducing FinOps has allowed us to swiftly and successfully make good on the delivery promises we’ve made to our customers. By empowering teams to understand customer needs from the get-go whilst anticipating the scale implications., FinOps helps us deliver what customers want, when they want it, and optimised to their needs,” Cochrane said.

Participation in the awards is open to all private and public companies, multinationals and their subsidiaries, non-government organisations, educational institutions, government departments, government agencies, government authorities and statutory bodies that have successfully implemented a business, management or community initiative in Australia. Initiatives can be internal or external and include implementing a project, program, process, service, system, technology, development, joint venture or undertaking.

The program provides a notable opportunity for high-performing organisations which implement world-class business initiatives and develop innovative products and services to be acknowledged and celebrated for their achievements both nationally and internationally.
